Day 14: a-djectives!
Hi everyone!
What a lovely sunny day.
Come to think of it, you may open this post on a miserable rainy evening. But if you happen to visit the blog today, you're likely to be enjoying a bit of sunshine.
What does this have to do with today's challenge? Well, as I was enjoying the light in my living room, I thought about how the room was alight today.
Alight. What a beautiful word. It has so many meanings, and all of them are just wonderful! Talk about favourite words!
One of the things that is special about this word (as an adjective--it's also a really cool verb) is that it is one of those adjectives with a- that can only appear in predicative position, that is, only in the predicate, and never preceding the noun: I could never say "the alight room", but I'd have to think, as it occurred to me this morning, that the room was alight.
The challenge for today is:
- Read the following sentences and transform them so that the adjective follows the noun.
- Use this little reference to help you.
- Share with us your favourite predicate-only adjectives and tell us in which context you'd use them.
Enjoy! Be aware of the changes needed, don't fall asleep, be alert!
1. Live puppies were found in the shed.
- They found __________________ in the shed.
2. The blazing fire lasted for hours.
- The __________________ for hours.
3. The ship has seven boarded passengers.

My favorite predicate-only adjectives are anew and afresh, meaning both again.
I´d use them to say that something has to be done again for whatever reason.
Thank you.
Here I go! (BTW Bea, I agree it's been a lovely sunny day (It drove me crazy seeing some Instagram stories of lucky people with a yard at home enjoying the sun!)

I must admit I didn't know around half of these new words. The words I liked the most were aghast and adrift, so I'll try to focus on them and to make them part of my usual vocabulary.
Thanks Bea!
